The short-pedicelled Erica cerinthoides flower tubes may bulge more towards their tips than their bases. The hairiness also appears to be concentrated at the front ends of the corollas. The orange red to pinkish red colours with varying regional embellishments are spectacular, although sometimes taken beyond the truth by photography and printing.
The narrow ascending leaves also present differences increased by the geographical spread of the species (Manning and Helme, 2024; Curtis-Scott, et al, 2020; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; iNaturalist).
