The young, green buds of Euryops tysonii flowerheads are obovoid, meaning egg-shaped with the fat sides at the top. They start off snugly in leaf axils before peduncle elongation gives them status over the leaves.
Once the floral development inside a bud forces the green involucral bracts apart and the yellow shows through, events of ray floret elongation and spreading are rapid. Peduncles get rigidly erect for optimal floral presentation. But sadly, the ray florets rarely all make it for even radiation around the compact yellow disc as flowerhead presentation in this Euryops is usually gap-toothed (Manning, 2009; Pooley, 1998; iNaturalist).
