Jamesbrittenia kraussiana flowers

The flowers of Jamesbrittenia kraussiana grow in loose, leafy racemes on slender stalks near stem-tips. The white or pale lilac flowers are two-lipped, spreading five notched or square-tipped petal lobes around narrow mouths that are yellow, orange or dull between those two colours. The long, cylindrical corolla tubes have kinks near the mouth, hairy on the outside and sometimes yellow or purplish.

Blooming happens throughout the year. Although the pollinators of the species may not be fully known, oil-collecting bees are thought to form part. The female bees collect oil from the flowers to feed their larvae and waterproof their nests (Pooley, 1998; iNaturalist; https://pza.sanbi.org).
