    The lesser striped, purplish pink Romulea rosea flower also exists. This one does have a single, dark median line up each tepal, and some short stripes entering the yellow cup in the base.

    There are five recognised varieties of R. rosea, most of them growing in different or overlapping parts of the Western Cape. Only var. australis spreads into the Eastern Cape, while var. elegans is restricted mainly to the Cape Peninsula. All five varieties were deemed safe in habitat at the time of writing (Curtis-Scott, et al, 2020; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Manning, 2007; iNaturalist; Wikipedia; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
