    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Francelle van Zyl

In the open Moquiniella rubra flowers the five corolla lobes of each have split and coiled back around their style bases. They are yellow in some flowers, orange to nearly red in others. Also the closed buds in picture are not identical in colour, and neither are the exposed styles.

These flowers are nearly sessile. The head-like stigmas at the style tips are here mostly pinkish red (Euston-Brown and Kruger, 2023; Shearing and Van Heerden, 2008; iNaturalist; https://www.worldfloraonline.org).
