Crassula sericea var. sericea survives as a dwarf succulent in arid, rocky terrain. It sometimes copes in little soil, stored in crevices among quartzite sandstone. Moisture is a rare luxury here. This partial shade of sheltered ledge serves the plant well, as if in the pound seats.

The plant branches and spreads as the rocks allow, becoming a shrublet about 20 cm tall and equally wide (iNaturalist; www.plantzafrica.com).
