Pachycarpus concolor subsp. transvaalensis flowers

The flowers of Pachycarpus concolor subsp. transvaalensis are shallowly cup-shaped. They grow upright in small clusters, often only two together, at stem tips or from upper leaf axils.

The flower colour varies from greenish to yellow or brown. Behind the broad, tapering corolla lobes, tiny hairy sepals with pointed tips can just be seen. The pale yellow corolla lobes are separate or free down to the flower base, marked with faint and uneven maroon lines along their inner surfaces. Dark maroon corona lobes spread at the base and arch inwards at their tips, around the style head. The diameter of the flowers varies from 2 cm to 4 cm.

Blooming happens almost throughout the year, barring the colder, dry winter months (JSTOR; iSpot).
