Ehretia rigida subsp. nervifolia has rigid branches with characteristic mild curvature.

    E. alba that only shows leaf midribs and no lateral veins as E. rigida sometimes does, grows towards the western parts of the country, Botswana and Namibia. E. rigida also resembles E. obtusifolia that has leaves without domatia and with petioles longer than 4 mm (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Van Wyk and Van Wyk, 1997).
