    The faintly scented flowers of Ixia flexuosa are borne on a slender, wiry stem. From four to twelve flowers are usually present in a fairly congested spike, the stem alternately angled between successive flowers. This explains the common name of bending-stalked ixia.

    Flower colour varies from white to pink or mauve. Dark pink veins are sometimes seen along the petal surfaces (Privett and Lutzeyer, 2010; www.pacificbulbsociety.org).
