The hourglass to spoon-shape of the brightly red-tipped inflorescence leaves of Mimetes cucullatus is the striking feature in this photo. Yellow in the middle sections, the parts shielded from the sun at the base shade into pale green.
The horny stem tip teeth, three or four in number, appear globular here, the biggest one in the centre.
