Habenaria dives is a grassland ground orchid found in parts of the summer rainfall region of South Africa. The acutely pointed leaf tips angle outwards, the leaves showing longitudinal pleats that aren’t midribs.

The dense inflorescence is often seen like this: green, bulging buds at the top, open flowers in its midsection and withered flowers low down, the ovaries of which are turning into fruits, just above the leaves (Pooley, 1998).
