Drosanthemum speciosum flower

There is a ring of short, black staminodes or sterile filaments lacking anthers around the Drosanthemum speciosum flower centre. Inside this ring many white stamens, tipped with tiny anthers can be seen. The whitish colour band at the base of the petals is short in this species, more prominent in D. micans and D. splendens.

The orange colour of the upper petal parts in picture becomes deeper near the rounded petal tips. Some petals in the inner ring are shorter than the typical length achieved by those in the outer rings.
