Gladiolus ecklonii flowers may have large tepals with tips somewhat spreading. The white tepals are variably spotted or speckled, in the case of this plant the spots are dark brownish purple. The tepals may be asymmetrical and the margins slightly wavy.
The split at the tip of the style into three branches is visible in one of the flowers in picture. There are angled green and yellow areas in the cup-shaped throat of the flower.
The corms of this plant may be up to 5 cm in diameter with thick tunics of darkly coloured, matted fibres (Manning, 2009; iNaturalist).
