    Author: Ivan Lätti

The leaves of the bushman’s candle as Monsonia crassicaulis is locally known are grey-green, finely hairy and pleated. The margins are serrated or scalloped and the leaf form is ovate to obovate. Leaves measure about 1,5 cm in length. There are scattered long and thin, sometimes curved spines on the succulent and woody stems (Le Roux, et al, 2005; Williamson, 2010).
