Olea capensis subsp. capensis fruit

The fruit of Olea capensis subsp. capensis grow in stem-tip clusters. They are ovoid drupes, thinly fleshy around one hard seed each. The green colour is replaced by blackish purple when they are ripe. The fruit dimensions are 10 mm by 6 mm.

The fruits are apparently edible. Fruits are seen on the shrub from the end of summer to the beginning of spring. The photo was taken in May on Hoy Koppie in Hermanus (Venter, 2011; Coates Palgrave, 2002; Van Wyk and Van Wyk, 1997; iNaturalist).
