Hermannia trifurca flowers old and young

The developmental sequence of flowering events in Hermannia trifurca can be understood better when observing different flower stages in their one-sided racemes. Several floral shades  in a pinkish mauve range are present, the flowers droopy on their slightly zigzagged and arching, mostly horizontal racemes. The buds expose corolla parts of a dark shade.

Open flowers retain good colour only briefly, while the old flowers are faded white, not bothering with ostentation once the procreative goals have been achieved; a reaction also known among humans.

The slender, oblong leaves present here do curve, displaying nothing of the trifurcal, three-toothed feature (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Manning, 2007; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; iNaturalist).
