Erepsia lacera leaves

The leaves of Erepsia lacera ascend in opposite pairs along the ridged, cream-coloured stems. They are sometimes spaced by notably long internodes.

The leaves are triangular in cross-section, tapering fairly abruptly at the top into a curved-in tip that is tiny, but markedly pointed. Horny serrations (or tiny teeth) are present along the sharply angular margins and keel ridges of the leaves. These teeth vary in size, spacing and colour (cream, white or reddish).

The flat, dull green leaf surfaces are smooth, apart from possible dry season wrinkling evident on the leaves in picture (Smith, et al, 1998; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iSpot; www.plantzafrica.com).
