Crassula nudicaulis var. platyphylla flowerhead

Crassula nudicaulis var. platyphylla flowers are clustered so densely, their pedicels must be short, possibly absent. The succulent leafy bract below the flower cluster has slightly ciliate margins. Five free, green sepals hold the corolla, bulging in their centres and ciliate along their margins.

The urn-shaped, cream-coloured corolla is only a little longer than the calyx. The five petal tips on the young flowers are fleshy and recurving. Maybe the fleshy appendages normally found on C. nudicaulis petals are absent here. The old brown flowers have their petal tips turned up straight as they dry.

The flower mouths are always small (Smith, et al, 2017; Frandsen, 2017; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; iNaturalist).
