Crassula pyramidalis buds

The small flowers of Crassula pyramidalis are produced in profusion at the about flat stem tips. At this stage a multitude of merely tiny creamy green cylinders are present; they will reach up to 10 cm and open to spread their five tiny petal lobes.

Flower colour varies from cream to white; pink is sometimes seen on the outer corolla surfaces, particularly when the buds are still closed.

Flowering happens in spring; the photo of these buds was taken halfway through August in the Little Karoo (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; Shearing and Van Heerden, 2008; Moriarty, 1997; iNaturalist).
