The honey-scented flowers of Pachycarpus scaber grow in umbels on pedicels of about 2,5 cm. This is one of the Pachycarpus plants that presents its flowers facing upwards; there are others. Sepals are ovate with acute tips.
The fleshy, white and triangular corolla lobes spread in a five-pointed star-shape. The narrow, oblong corona lobes curve inwards over the staminal column, forming a cream-coloured cage. Flowering happens from mid-spring to midsummer (Manning, 2009; iSpot; JSTOR; www.redlist.sanbi.org).
