Salvia repens, the kruipsalie (Afrikaans) is a popular herb that grows from rhizomes spreading vigorously to produce a matted clump of stems. It grows about 40 cm tall. The leaves are opposite and hairy with prominent veins on the lower surface.
The plant is common in the highveld grassland as well as occurring more widely in the summer rainfall areas where it is used in a variety of medicinal applications (www.plantzafrica,com).
