Babiana ambigua hairy bracts

Every flower on a Babiana ambigua flower spike is subtended by a hairy, green bract, just visible on the plant in the photo. The bract is divided to its base.

The obovate petals are quite broad and pale coloured on the flowers in picture. The white patches on the petals, where visible, are smaller than sometimes seen. The purple line markings below the white patches are distinct, spike-shaped.

The three pale blue branches of the flower stigma are just visible. The stamens are arched together (Bean and Johns, 2005; Manning, 2007; iSpot).
