    Babiana mucronata subsp. mucronata flowers have pale yellow to cream markings on the tepals of the lower lip, particularly the lateral ones. These lower lip tepals are carried close together at the base where they are narrowed or clawed, spreading higher up.

    The upper parts of all perianth segments in picture veer away from each other. Those forming the upper lip are separated from the base, hardly constituting a tube to speak of. The corolla is 2,5 cm to 3 cm in diameter.
