    The green, ellipsoid Bulbine praemorsa fruits are erect on long stalks. Right at the top of the raceme the recently withered flowers droop, uncertain of a fruiting future. Below them the signs are not good, a section of the stem bears bare stalks, proof of fruiting that failed.

    The secondary flowering stem is markedly shorter, its supplies reduced due to earlier commitments. The fewer late flowers do extend the chances of more seed for the season; nothing half-hearted in effort here (Manning, 2009; Le Roux, et al, 2005; iNaturalist).
