Lasiosiphon deserticola, sometimes called t’korbos (t’kor bush, a name remaining from some indigenous language, its meaning unknown) and also saffraan (saffron), doesn’t resprout after fire, growing from a single stem. The plant is browsed by stock and game.

The few flowers emerging from a stem-tip leaf cluster are long-tubed. The tube hairiness seems to be more at both ends than in the centre.

There is more about this shrub elsewhere on this Site. It can be accessed by entering the plant name in the Search Box (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Shearing and Van Heerden, 2008; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; http://pza.sanbi.org).
