Odontophorus nanus is a dwarf mesemb of the Steinkopf region and found more widely into the south of the Richtersveld. The plants often grow on rocky ridges and the soil is often sandy. Leaf papillae may be present, or the leaves may be smooth and shiny.

The creamy flowers have many, mainly cream coloured petals and numerous stamens with similarly pale anthers. White to pale yellow flowers are also seen.

Some of the five Odontophorus species are used in horticulture, produced from seed or cuttings (Frandsen, 2017; Williamson, 2010; Van Jaarsveld, et al, 2006; iNaturalist; https://llifle.com).
