Nelia schlechteri is a tufted dwarf plant forming a small, blue-green to quite pale leafy dome. It grows on stony slopes near the coast and mountains of the central Richtersveld.
The small flowers are ivory white, remaining open for weeks once opened.
The only other species in this genus is N. pillansii, a variable plant also of the Richtersveld (Williamson, 2010; Smith, et al, 1998; Herre, 1971; iNaturalist).
