Atriplex lindleyi fruit

The unevenly angular, cream surfaces of the Atriplex lindleyi fruiting bodies appear soft but coarse in texture. Larger than the leaves, they share space with the glaucous, hairy foliage. The leaf waviness and occasional toothing as well as some pale midribs are features of the species.

It is thought that this plant is A. lindleyi subsp. inflata, the more prevalent Australian immigrant in South Africa; the other one being subsp. quadripartita (Le Roux, et al, 2005; iNaturalist).
