Dyerophytum africanum leaves

The spoon-shaped leaves of Dyerophytum africanum are alternate and widely spaced upon the pale, smooth stems. Their tips may be rounded, notched or obtusely pointed. The elongated attenuation of the channelled leaf base may be considered to include no petiole.

The leaf colour is glaucous (blue-green or grey-green). The upper, younger leaves on the plant are smooth, down below they may have a woolly covering. Some translucent net-veining is visible, the leaves slightly fleshy. Leaf surfaces often have powdery scales that rub off. The leaf margins are entire. A leaf may be 2,8 cm long, 2 cm wide.
