Grewia hexamita leaves and fruit

Grewia hexamita leaves are usually glossy and dark green. The asymmetrical shape of the leaf base may be very pronounced, also lobed. The three veins emerging at the leaf base are pale across the blade surfaces. The leaf toothing is tiny to marginal in both senses of the word; the margins slightly rolled under.

The fruit, often paired in two almost separate lobes as in the photo, may also be a single drupe. Its size may be 2 cm in diameter (in each lobe). The fruit’s early yellowish green surface is rough, to become yellowish brown or reddish as it ripens.

The upper stems in picture are reddish brown with a hint of tiny lenticels (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Schmidt, et al, 2002; iNaturalist).
