Brunsvigia bosmaniae uneven opening

Two batches of this Brunsvigia bosmaniae flowers in one umbel at strongly different developmental levels? It must have been unexpected interference by an outside source, the vicissitudes of life impacting without warning or favour that caused this interruption of inflorescence development in some of the flowers. Before the mishap, the widely open flowers did their thing without problems and appear to be continuing regardless.

Those still in greenish bud or newly opening form suffered a delay resulting in a two-batch flowering of the perianths of this umbel. Numerous factors may have played a role here but no easy answer is likely. Conditions may be harder this year than they appear. There may be useful signs around in other species, and known in rainfall, wind or temperatures to look for. These flowers, old and new, may yet succeed in eventual seed set, however.
