    Making a living among grass, gravel and rock, these Rabiea albinota habitat plants seem perfectly placed for more years of flowering and generating seed, maybe offspring.

    Never too conspicuous is a useful survival strategy in veld filled by the hungry. That is, apart from being covered in yellow blooms once a year for the benefit of pollinators. Bloomtime is mainly from late winter through spring, but it arrives occasionally all year round after rain (Smith, et al, 2017; Smith, et al, 1998; iNaturalist; https://pza.sanbi.org; https://www.worldfloraonline.org).
