Lotononis galpinii flowers are purple to blue with white and yellow in the centre, the eye. The broad, rounded banner petal is pleated down the centre with veins visible in the blue part. The wing petals bulge slightly sideways, the keel obscured between them. The calyx is lobed, the lobes about similar. Flower diameter is about 1 cm. Blooming happens in summer.
Some flattish, hairy pods are visible in the photo (Manning, 2009; Pooley, 1998; iNaturalist; www.kznwildlife.com).
