    Gnidia squarrosa leaves
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Judd Kirkel Welwitch

The alternate leaves of Gnidia squarrosa are narrowly lance-shaped and hairless. They are dark to dull green. Immediately below the flowerhead the leaves become whorled in an involucre. These leaves are slightly broader, sometimes with hairy margins. Normal leaf dimensions are about 8 mm by 1 mm (Manning, 2007; Bean and Johns, 2005).
