The leaves of Didelta spinosa are opposite. The leaf-shape is ovate to elliptic or cordate (heart-shaped), the base lobed. The leaf-tip tapers, ending in an indefinite point to near-rounded, often with a spine added. The leaves become up to 7 cm long and 6 cm wide.

The hairless leaf surfaces are shiny and bright green. The margins are entire, slightly rolled under. A few tiny, white spines are sometimes found spaced along the margins, in addition to the terminal one (Manning, 2009; Le Roux, et al, 2005; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997).
